What Is Brand Perception?

Brand perception is the way that consumers select, organize, and interpret external information about your brand. This information comes from your marketing collateral, website, and online reviews. Information can also come in the form of experiences with your brand, like interactions with your customer service personnel.

It’s crucial that you keep track of the way that your target market understands your brand, because their perception will reflect whether or not they decide to make a purchase.

4 Ways To Improve Your Brand Perception

1. Monitor your marketing collateral using metrics and goals.

Determine whether or not your materials are outdated. Use customer engagement metrics to figure out whether or not customers are connecting positively with your brand. If it appears that customers aren’t perceiving your marketing strategies well, test out new methods and figure out what works best for your target market.

2. Capture your target market’s attention in innovative ways.

As consumers suffer from sensory overload, you want to do everything you can to stand out and make a great impression. This means coming up with ways to reach your audience in a way that reaches them where they are. You could work on creating online content that helps them solve a particular problem they are facing. Or, you could create an interesting human interest video that would interest them. You might try to grab their attention by using colorful ads.

You want to make sure that whatever you decide to do matches what your consumers and interested in learning about, as this will enhance their perception of your brand.

3. Update your website to reflect your current products and services.

You want to make sure that your online presence features the latest and best information about your brand, so that if any new potential customers arrive at your website they know that they can trust your brand.

4. Keep track of your online reviews.

You want to make sure that you monitor and deal with customer service issues that come up online. Customers take online reviews seriously, and these reviews are often a major piece of information they use in their final purchase decision.

If there are negative reviews about your brand, you must work to solve the customer’s issue as quickly as you can. This way, other individuals who view these reviews will view your brand as trustworthy and proactive.

Remember, First Impressions Matter

Your marketing, customer service, and website, will all impact the way that a consumer perceives your brand. You must work to make sure that your brand is viewed positively, otherwise you may suffer the consequences of losing trust and sales from your target market.
